Description

The "Four Cs" (Creativity, Critical Thinking, Communication, and Collaboration) are vital for 21st-century learners but can be challenging to implement in practice.

Creativity and Critical Thinking are essential for innovation and can be taught in any classroom. Communication and Collaboration are crucial life skills that prepare students for personal and professional success.

These competencies help students thrive in a rapidly changing world, fostering traits like curiosity, confidence, caring, and cooperation.

This course provides teachers with the tools and confidence to integrate these skills into their curriculum. Participants will learn to enhance their own creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills in a hands-on environment.

Learning Outcomes

The course aims to help participants:

Clearly understand and personally experience the creative process;
Develop critical thinking skills to effectively navigate today’s information-rich environment;
Enhance communication skills and techniques for greater effectiveness;
Expand collaborative opportunities in the classroom and promote them throughout the school community;
Engage in an authentic international team-building experience.

Schedule

Day 1 - Course Introduction & Setting Goals

Course Introduction:
- Overview of the course, the school, and the week's activities
- Icebreaking activities
- Identifying your personal and professional strengths
Setting Goals:
- Identifying needs and goals for each participant and relevant populations
- Discussing 21st-century learners and the current educational landscape in Europe
- Exploring the 4Cs in the curriculum
- Group discussions and activities
- Participant school presentations

Day 2 - Classroom Communication

Lesson and discussion on various communication types used in schools: verbal, written, non-verbal, digital, artistic, and musical
Creating and promoting communication channels through collaborative work and activities that build social and emotional intelligence

Encouraging Creative Minds

Lesson and activities on creativity: its definition, importance, and ways to foster it
Exploring critical thinking as a crucial component of the creative process

Day 4 - Integrating the 4Cs

Lesson on strategies and successful examples of 4Cs implementation
Methods for incorporating the 4Cs into the curriculum meaningfully
Practical activities

Day 5 - 4Cs Overview

Simulations of effective communication and group activities to generate ideas on collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking
Identifying common pitfalls in implementing the 4Cs.

Evaluation format:

Continuous assessment on class participation and self-assessment.

Participation in class debates, reflection and games.

Recognition of learning outcomes

Recognition conditions:

80% attendance to the course and class participation.

Recognition procedures:

The participant and the teacher trainer will be both in charge of recognizing the learning outcomes.

Recognition documentation:

Certificate of attendance. If applicable, submit a paper.

Practical Details

Duration: 1 week or 25 academic hours
Schedule: Classes are from Monday to Friday in the morning or in the afternoon. The definite timetable will be sent at least two weeks before the start of the class. Saturday is reserved for Cultural Activities.
Sundays are for arrival and departure.
Note: other durations and schedules can be arranged on demand.
Certification Details: Our organization is duly registered as en Erasmus Teacher Academy, with OID No. E10333486. Therefore, we issue the appropriate Certificates so that your course and trip get fully funded.
Support: Understanding Academy offers full support in terms of Erasmus+ mobilities, but unfortunately we do not provide transport or accommodation.
